Most people will benefit from medical microneedling for acne scars, lines and wrinkles. However, before we agree to any treatment Dr Bhavin will ask that you attend a no obligation consultation, skin analysis and medical history check to ensure that there are no contraindications which could prevent or restrict your SkinPen® treatment from going ahead. Once we are satisfied that SkinPen® will be both safe and suitable for you to undergo, you can book your first treatment.
There are some people who should avoid having a SkinPen® treatment. They include those who have active skin cancer in the treatment areas, sores, open wounds or irritated skin in the treatment areas, allergies to stainless steel or anaesthetics, a haemorrhagic (bleeding) disorder or haemostatic dysfunction, are pregnant or nursing or are currently taking any drug with the ingredient isotretinoin (for example-Accutane).
This all depends on the severity of your skin condition. Many patients see favourable results in as little as one treatment. However, the estimated number of treatment sessions required will be discussed in your initial consultation with Dr Bhavin.
You should start to see brighter, smoother skin within a few weeks of your treatment. Some patients notice improvements in as little as a few days.
Acne scarring can be significantly improved with SkinPen® and lines and wrinkles can be improved considerably, but it’s important to consider that SkinPen® won’t prevent the natural ageing process continuing. Having a good diet, protecting your skin from UV rays and keeping your skin hydrated will all go towards prolonging the results that can be achieved with SkinPen®.
